HUMBLE APOLOGIES TO THOSE WE OFFENDED WITH “THE MOA PAKISTANI BACKHANDER”
29 August 2011 · General · Tips for the Moa Man

We at Moa Beer would like to offer our humble apologies to the many people enraged by Moa Beer calling the Pakistani Cricket team liars and cheats. (An allegation that has only ever been proven with easily falsified recordings, filmed evidence, player affidavits, bank account receipts and a ban from the ICC). We didn’t realise the actions of a few would be sensitive to so many. Because of this our shameful beer promotion has been exposed to thousands of people all over the world and we have been inundated with strongly worded protests.

So we would like to take this opportunity to humbly apologise to all those that have emailed us to formally register their complaints.

Finally we would like to apologise to all the people that have threatened us with Pakistan’s considerable nuclear capability. We at Moa Beer don’t want to be blown up and were genuinely unaware that the nuclear weapons of Pakistan were in the direct control of so many people scattered around the globe.

In closing we again offer our heads on pointy sticks to all those we have offended.

Be ready for some law suits because of the negative use of the word Pakistani in your ad campaign. The worst ad campaign I had ever witnessed. Pathetic.

This is ad is in very bad taste. This ad is generalizing all the Pakistanis. This is hate commercialism, and this shows that New Zealand is completely jealous of Pakistan and Pakistanis, and that they have to take such cheap shots. I just hope that some Pakistani sues this company into oblivion.

Thank you for understanding the point of view of Pakistanis and respecting that. Unlike others who are still in rage and anger, I would like to appreciate you coming out open and apologizing to all Pakistanis who were hurt because of what you guys did earlier.

Um, call the Pakistani Cricket Team whatever names you want (they are a in the public arena and should be open to criticism for their proven guilt. That was not the dispute. Your original ad campaign mistakenly targeted ALL PAKISTANIS by clearly stating Pakistanis multiple times WITHOUT stating the corruptivitedness of the Cricket Team. That is why we have taken offensivities to your campaign. Your apologies to said corrupt Pakistani Cricket Team (whom we Pakistanis do not wish to defend their corrupt actions) is a lazy cop out. If your ad campaigns are that lazy and your apologies so half ass, I truly wonder how much thought and sincerity goes in our actual product. In case you forgot your original ad campaign, I’m sharing for your benefit:

Pakistanis love cricket and they love making money. Sometimes they (WHO IS THEY, ALL PAKISTANIS OR THE PAKISTANI CRICKET TEAM?) combine the two with a good old Pakistani Match Fix so that the Black Caps get to win a game and the Pakistanis get a big cheque from the TAB

It’s a win-win all round and we here at Moa love the business principles behind it, which is why we’re offering a Pakistani (SEEMS TO BE REFERRING TO ALL PAKISTANIS) Backhander of our own.

So for every 10 cases of Moa ordered, the contact person who does the ordering, that’s you, gets 10 per cent of the match fee – a free case of Moa beer for themselves that we don’t tell anyone about.

Is this ethical? No. Is it Pakistani (AGAIN ALL PAKISTANIS)? Yes!

When nothing else will sell your pathetic beer, not even controversy will. The actions of a few does not represent a community at large. Doesn’t New Zealand have thieves, rapists, crooks, murderers and gays? how about we make them the representatives of New Zealand. Your Apology is as lame as your ad and beer. Find something else to do. And PS…our team is still better than yours.

Just been told to never re-order this beer! the Boss has pulled it due to the way the marketing is going
Was a shame cause we were selling a shedload of the stuff
Have to find some other craft beers now
Shame your marketing is worse than your beer, which is the opposite of all the big brewery beer!

Learn to laugh and take things lightly. Moa is incredible, not just the beer too. Everyone who is still raging over this…you’re feeding fuel to the fire…that being the blazing trail of marketing and recognition (:

This is the funniest comment section I have read in ages, Moa again strikes with genius marketing! The more outlandish the complaints, the funnier it gets, keep up the good work and great beer, but watch out, Pakistan tourism is making a run on New Zealand, and after that, rugby, yeah right. “Haters gonna hate.”
